Pregnancy Test

Would you like to know if you are pregnant? Test it with our pregnancy test!

A pregnancy test measures the presence of the pregnancy hormone hCG in your urine. You can take a pregnancy test at home easily and within five minutes.

From when to take a pregnancy test?

You can take a pregnancy test from the moment you are one day overdue. This is your NPD (Not-Period Day). With a more sensitive (and often more expensive) test, you can find out whether you have the hCG hormone in your blood some four days earlier. However, such an early pregnancy test is slightly less reliable.

If you take a pregnancy test too early, the amount of hCG hormone in your urine is still too low to be measured. If the result is negative (i.e. ‘not pregnant’), but you still think you are pregnant? Test again a few days later.

The most important reason for taking a pregnancy test is the absence of your period. It is known as ‘being late’. Other reasons for taking a pregnancy test are:

  • You are in the process of becoming pregnant.
  • You had sex without contraception.
  • You are experiencing pregnancy symptoms.

Pregnancy test with cassette

With this test, you must first collect your urine in a container that comes with it. A pregnancy test with cassette works like this:

  1. Collect some urine in the cup provided.
  2. Place the cassette on a flat horizontal surface.
  3. Use the supplied pipette to aspirate some (see instructions for quantity) and drip some urine into the cassette.
  4. Wait for a few minutes (see instructions for use).
  5. A control line will always appear near the ‘C’. This indicates that the test is working and that it is not faulty. Does a dash also appear at the ‘T’? Then you are probably pregnant.

Pregnant, now what?

Do you have a positive pregnancy test? Congratulations, you are pregnant! As soon as you know this, make an appointment with a midwife. She will tell you how to proceed. It is also wise to inform your family doctor about your pregnancy. He or she can take this into account when taking any medicines.

It is also important to watch your diet and lifestyle when you are pregnant. Follow the advice below for a healthy pregnancy:

  • Take folic acid and possibly vitamin D
  • Eat healthily
  • Know what you should not eat
  • Do not drink alcohol
  • Do not smoke
